Three children in New York have now died from Kawasaki disease — a rare inflammatory illness potentially linked to the coronavirus, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday.
“Tragically, three young New Yorkers have died of what may be a COVID-related illness in children,” the governor tweeted.
Earlier in the week, state Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker issued an alert to medical providers regarding the “potential association” between “multi-system inflammatory syndrome” and COVID-19.
Cuomo said Friday that a 5-year-old boy died from the disease, and that 73 other kids statewide were sickened by it.
